Lead Analyst - Payment Operations Risk

Overview

In this Lead role, you’ll guide analytics for Wise’s Payment Operations to support risk-aware decisions and protect customer funds. You will own the Key Risk Indicator framework, trust the data behind reconciliation, and partner with Risk to strengthen controls. Collaborating with a large analytic community, you’ll turn data into actions that improve payments reliability and compliance. This is a chance to shape risk culture and data storytelling at scale within a mission-driven fintech.

Responsibilities

• Own analytics strategy and models for risk indicators and controls
• Design risk thresholds aligned with risk appetite and monitor for emerging risks
• Develop and track Key Risk Indicators and related metrics
• Collaborate with auditors, risk partners, and stakeholders to test control effectiveness
• Identify emerging data trends to prevent financial losses and ensure compliance
• Build and maintain high-quality data pipelines, prepare reports, and create visualisations
• Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders to drive customer impact
• Collaborate with a large cross-functional analytics team on shared initiatives

Key requirements

• Experience with SQL and building data pipelines; dbt experience preferable
• Strong quantitative skills; background in statistics, mathematics, engineering, analytics or related field
• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate insights into persuasive narratives
• Ability to structure business problems with limited supervision and prioritise with stakeholders
• Proactive, take ownership, and deliver beyond analysis
• Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, PowerBI, Tableau) and storytelling with data
