To support the effective operation of the School Library by supervising pupils during evening study sessions, maintaining a calm and productive learning environment, assisting library users, and carrying out routine library administration and housekeeping duties. Responsibilities
Supervise pupils working in the Library during evening sessions, ensuring appropriate behaviour and adherence to library rules. Maintain a quiet, studious, and welcoming environment that supports independent learning and academic achievement.
Respond to enquiries providing assistance and guidance where appropriate. Operate the Library Management System to issue, renew, and return library resources accurately and efficiently. Assist users in locating books, resources, and information within the Library.
Ensure library shelving is kept tidy, organised, and accurately maintained. Carry out routine stock management tasks, including re-shelving returned books and ensuring resources are stored correctly. Monitor the condition of library facilities and report any maintenance, health and safety, or safeguarding concerns promptly.
Prepare the Library in accordance with established procedures. Promote a positive and respectful atmosphere within the Library at all times. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as directed by the Deputy Head Librarian. Library Evening Supervisor
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: Essential Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to supervise and engage positively with young people.
