Overview

In this AI Engineer role, you will help civil government clients design and scale enterprise AI and Generative AI solutions. You work within Deloitte’s AI Scaling and Transformation team to deliver secure, compliant, production-ready flows that turn policy and operational challenges into practical AI designs. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across policy, operations and tech to drive measurable public value. This is a client-facing leadership role focused on delivering high-impact AI outcomes in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Own AI engineering workstreams to align with client objectives, timelines and quality expectations
• Translate business challenges from policy, operations and technology stakeholders into scalable AI designs
• Design, develop and deploy AI/Generative AI solutions including ML models, data pipelines and application components
• Operationalise AI solutions with CI/CD, testing, deployment, monitoring and MLOps
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, governance and responsible AI standards in regulated environments
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists, engineers and business analysts to integrate AI into broader digital/data transformation programmes
• Manage stakeholders and contribute to delivery leadership by tracking progress, risks and mentoring juniors

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, AI, Data Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• Proven experience delivering AI/ML solutions in consulting/public sector/enterprise environments
• Experience owning technical deliverables or workstreams across multidisciplinary teams
• Strong stakeholder engagement to gather requirements and translate into scalable solutions
• Experience in regulated or secure environments; eligible for security clearance
• Strong communication and stakeholder management
• Problem-solving and clear technical storytelling
• Collaborative and client-facing mindset
• Python or equivalent language
• ML frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn
• Generative AI techniques: LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation
