Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will act as the sole Mechanical Engineer across several concurrent water treatment projects, leading mechanical design input, specification, and procurement. You will specify pumps, blowers and steelwork, and collaborate with UK suppliers and fabricators. You’ll support delivery to meet quality, cost and schedule targets, including FATs at UK sites, with a focus on practical, self-sufficient execution. This long-term, IR35-excluded contract offers remote-work considerations and UK-based travel.

Responsibilities

• Specify and procure pumps, blowers and steelwork fabrications
• Support delivery of multiple medium-scale water treatment projects
• Collaborate with UK suppliers and fabrication partners
• Attend factory acceptance tests (FATs) at various UK sites
• Ensure solutions meet quality, cost and schedule requirements

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ Mechanical Engineering experience
• Background in a supplier, contractor, or manufacturing environment
• Experience with mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers and fabricated steelwork
• Strong practical engineering and procurement exposure
• Ability to work independently across multiple projects
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel
• Proof of right to work in the UK
