Job Description Mechanical Fitter - Machine ToolsLocation: , County DurhamSalary: £37,000-£42,000+ per annum DOE, including regular overtimeBasic Rate: £16-£18 per hour DOEHours: Monday to Friday, Overtime availableJob Type: Permanent, Full-time; would consider Part TimeExperienced Mechanical Fitter - £37k-£42k+ DOEAre you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for a stable, permanent opportunity with a well-established engineering businessWe're looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team in County Durham , working on a range of machine tools and industrial machinery.

This is a genuinely hands-on position where your mechanical fitting and maintenance experience will be highly valued. The RoleAs a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for the fitting, maintenance, repair and servicing of a range of machinery and mechanical equipment.

You'll work with machinery including: LathesMilling machinesGrindersRadial arm drillsManual machine toolsOther industrial and engineering equipmentYour responsibilities will include: Mechanical fitting, assembly and installation of componentsPlanned and preventative maintenanceDiagnosing and repairing mechanical faultsStripping down, repairing and rebuilding machineryIdentifying potential mechanical issues and carrying out corrective workWorking with bearings, gearboxes and other mechanical componentsUsing a range of hand tools and workshop equipmentWorking from engineering drawings and technical specifications where requiredEnsuring machinery is operating safely and efficientlyMaintaining high standards of health and safetyWorking independently as well as alongside the wider engineering teamCompleting work to a high standard and within agreed timescalesAbout YouWe're looking for someone who is practical, mechanically minded and confident working with machinery .You will ideally have: Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician or similarExperience within an engineering, manufacturing or machine-tool environmentStrong mechanical fitting and maintenance experienceExperience working with lathes, milling machines, grinders or similar machineryGood mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skillsExperience with preventative and reactive maintenanceThe ability to work independently and as part of a teamA strong focus on quality, reliability and health & safetyA recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or technical certification would be advantageous.

Time-served Mechanical Fitters with strong practical experience are also encouraged to apply, even if you don't hold formal qualifications.
