Operations Manager

Overview

As Operations Manager, you will oversee day-to-day Grounds Maintenance and winter services across NCM, NLN and NAN regions. You’ll lead a multi-disciplinary field team to deliver high-quality service, improve efficiency, and drive financial and operational performance. The role requires agile, customer-focused leadership and hands-on management of QHSE, people development, and external/stakeholder engagement. This is a pivotal position shaping regional service delivery within the UK’s leading FM provider.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations in grounds maintenance and winter services across designated regions
• Lead and develop Contract Managers, Supervisors, operatives and litter pickers
• Drive efficiency and resource utilisation to meet or exceed budgets
• Ensure high standards of QHSE, and health, safety and quality management
• Maintain excellent customer service and represent the company in meetings
• Manage budgets and financial performance; use operational IT systems
• Foster team development and effective people management
• Support flexible, after-hours customer support and seasonal peak demands

Key requirements

• Experience in horticultural/landscaping industry
• Previous management experience
• Ability to undertake budget setting and financial management
• Strong understanding of operational IT systems
• Knowledge of HSE, Environment and Quality systems and safe systems of work
• Ability to represent Mitie effectively in meetings
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage a team
