Pricing Transformation Actuary

Overview As Pricing Transformation Actuary, you will develop and enhance pricing models to support underwriting decisions across Markel International. You'll partner with underwriters and actuarial experts to deliver data-driven pricing solutions and drive business performance.

You'll work with pricing, analytics, and technology teams to enable AI-enabled insights and modern tools, with growing ownership of key models and transformation initiatives. This role offers meaningful impact across pricing and transformation.

Pay / Benefits competitive salary annual bonus 25 days holiday + bank holidays pension scheme private medical and dental cover life assurance Responsibilities Develop, deliver and maintain pricing frameworks for underwriting and portfolio decisions Collaborate with business partner actuaries and underwriters to translate pricing challenges into practical solutions Own specific pricing models, enhancements or components of the Pricing Transformation roadmap Develop and improve pricing models on Hyperexponential (HX) platform, using Excel and analytical tooling Analyze pricing data and create model analytics to evaluate performance and calibration Support calibration, testing, validation, documentation and ongoing enhancement of pricing models Collaborate with Portfolio Management, DAI, AI Centre of Enablement, Change & Delivery and IT to deliver integrated solutions Identify opportunities to improve pricing capabilities, data usage and underwriting outcomes Share knowledge, develop best practices and support graduates and junior colleagues Key requirements Experience in developing or supporting pricing models, ideally in insurance pricing or related analytics Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with pricing data Proficient in at least one coding language with ability to extend to Python Ability to engage with underwriters and business partners and translate priorities into model improvements Clear communication skills to explain technical concepts plainly Curiosity, ownership and growth mindset across pricing, analytics, technology and transformation Ability to collaborate with senior Pricing Transformation specialists and technical colleagues communication collaboration ownership pricing modeling data analysis Python (or willingness to learn)
