Principal/Associate River Engineer

Overview

In this Principal/Associate River Engineer role, you will lead high-quality river and nature restoration projects within AECOM’s Water Environment team. You’ll work with regulators, water companies, and landowners to deliver nature recovery schemes, river restoration, and geomorphology-focused designs.

You will manage design, safety, and construction supervision while guiding multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with clients. This is a mission-driven position at a global firm with opportunities to shape watercourse governance and environmental outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Environmental engineering for nature recovery, restoration, re-wilding and geomorphology schemes
• River and wetland restoration
• River and watercourse engineering, detailed design, CDM compliance
• Preparing designs, design safety, work schedules and specifications for contractors
• Supervision of contractors and construction works
• Project management
• Client contact and commercial aspects of projects
• Health, safety, and environmental considerations underpin all work

Key requirements

• Degree in relevant subject (e.g. civil engineering)
• Proven experience in river and waterway restoration with design standards
• Highly experienced in project management and delivery
• CDM and design safety leadership
• Excellent communication, engagement and leadership skills with multi-disciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders
