Principal Bridge Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Act as Technical Lead / Design Authority for major bridge projects (river crossings, long‑span structures, freight/rail infrastructure)
• Provide high‑level technical review, design certification, and risk management
• Lead and oversee compliance with AS 5100, Austroads, MRWA, and project‑specific requirements
• Support bids, tenders, and proposals including methodology, resourcing, and fee inputs
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Mentor senior and emerging engineers and contribute to capability development
• Represent the business at client meetings and industry forums

Key requirements

• 15+ years’ experience in bridge and major infrastructure design
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) – Engineers Australia
• Demonstrated experience with Main Roads WA projects and standards
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary design teams in a consultancy
• Strong commercial awareness and client‑facing capability
• Ability to provide clear technical direction and professional judgement
