Principal Civil Engineer

Overview

In this Principal Civil Design Engineer role, you will lead civil infrastructure design and delivery for commercial and residential developments. You’ll provide technical and commercial leadership to multi-disciplinary teams and manage projects to time, budget, and quality.

You’ll oversee highways, drainage, and related infrastructure while supporting business growth and new work in the property and development sectors. The role combines hands-on design with project leadership in a global, ESG-driven firm that values collaboration and development.

This is a chance to shape major infrastructure across the UK from a multidisciplinary Civils Team.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial and technical leadership to teams, planning workloads and delivering projects on time and within budget
• Lead and manage the design and delivery of highways, drainage, and associated infrastructure for complex developments
• Undertake project management responsibilities across a portfolio of schemes
• Support business development activities within the unit to secure new work in the property and development sectors

Key requirements

• Significant experience in UK development-led infrastructure engineering, typically in private or consultancy environments
• A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Chartered Civil Engineer status or approaching Chartership (MICE)
• Strong technical capability in the design of highways, access roads, and project infrastructure (road geometry, earthworks, pavements, drainage, underground services)
