Overview

In this Principal Data Engineer role, you will lead the design and delivery of modern data solutions that support smarter decisions for Lancashire residents. You’ll guide a team within Digital Services, shaping the data foundations for the council’s digital transformation. You’ll tackle scalable cloud data architectures and end-to-end data engineering, partnering with architects and service teams to ensure governance and best practices. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines technical impact with strategic influence to improve public services.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data and integration engineers

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in data engineering and cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
