We're recruiting for a Principal Drainage Engineer to join an established team delivering innovative drainage, flood risk and water management solutions across a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with project leadership, client engagement and mentoring junior engineers. The RoleYou'll lead the delivery of drainage and flood risk projects from inception through to completion, providing expert advice on surface water and wastewater management.
Working closely with clients, planners and multidisciplinary teams, you'll develop practical, sustainable solutions while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities include
Producing drainage strategies, technical reports and hydraulic modellingDesigning Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)Preparing technical drawings and supporting documentationManaging projects and client relationshipsSupporting and mentoring junior engineersPreparing fee proposals and contributing to business developmentKeeping up to date with UK planning policy and industry best practiceAbout YouWe're looking for someone who has: Experience delivering drainage and flood risk projects within a UK consultancyStrong knowledge of UK planning policy, SuDS and drainage designExperience using software such as MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow+, Flood Modeller, GIS or AutoCADExcellent technical report writing skillsStrong project management and client-facing experienceA relevant degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering (or equivalent)Professional membership or progress towards chartership would be advantageous.
