Principal Electrical Engineer

We are working with a leading engineering consultancy in the water sector that is looking to strengthen its team with an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer. This is a hybrid role based in the South East, offering a great mix of office and remote working.

In this senior-level position, you’ll lead the electrical design process on complex water and wastewater treatment projects. You’ll play a critical role in delivering efficient, safe, and cost-effective solutions while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the production of electrical design layouts and documentation for water infrastructure projects
• Ensure designs are cost-effective, buildable, and compliant with relevant standards and health & safety requirements
• Collaborate with mechanical, process, and civil engineering teams
• Support project proposals and estimates
• Drive process improvements and ensure technical quality
• Contribute to staff development and departmental best practicesAbout You:
• Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer with chartered status or working towards it
• Strong experience in electrical design for water and wastewater treatment projects
• Proven leadership experience in managing design teams
• Excellent knowledge of multidisciplinary coordination in engineering projects
• Skilled in presenting technical proposals and managing client expectations
