Principal Hydrologist (Flood Risk Consultant)

Overview

In this Principal Hydrologist role, you will lead complex flood risk projects and shape the direction of Stantec’s UK water environment capability. You will work within a collaborative team of hydrologists, hydrogeologists and planners to deliver climate-resilient flood risk solutions and support public water supply resilience.

You will mentor colleagues, ensure quality across deliverables, and contribute to business development. The role combines technical leadership with stakeholder engagement across LLFAs, regulators and water companies. Responsibilities

• deliver complex flood risk and drainage consultancy projects
• mentor and develop junior team members
• lead quality assurance processes
• support business development and contribute to strategic direction
• prepare Flood Risk Assessments and hydraulic/hydrological analyses
• engage with stakeholders including Environment Agency, SEPA, LLFAs and water companies
• produce high-quality technical reports for technical and non‑technical audiences

Key requirements
