Principal Mechanical Engineer

Overview In this Principal Mechanical Engineer role, you lead mechanical design on large projects within our Places Design Practice. You collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate solutions that support sustainable, safe places where people live and work.

You will present complex technical options to clients and mentor junior engineers, shaping project delivery and technical excellence. This role offers influence over design outcomes and client-facing leadership in a globally active consultancy.

Responsibilities Lead mechanical design on larger projects and ensure integration with other design disciplines Present complex technical solutions to clients Manage project teams up to 10 people and provide technical guidance Support performance management of team members and sub-contractors Identify and resolve project issues and ensure delivery quality Collaborate with colleagues to deliver sustainable design solutions Mentor and develop junior engineers Key requirements BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering Chartered Engineer (CEng) Experience in a similar role Experience in a consultancy environment Ability to lead and support junior engineers team leadership clear communication client-facing presentation mechanical design design integration across disciplines technical advisory and mentorship
