Principal Mechanical Engineer - Building Services

Overview As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in AECOM's Buildings & Places team, you will lead mechanical design for high-profile, multidisciplinary projects across defence and data-centre sectors. You'll work within a collaborative, cross-functional environment to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions from concept to completion.

You'll influence design reviews and client engagement, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring high standards. Pay / Benefits Hybrid work options Up to 6 weeks additional annual leave Flex public holidays Continuous learning and development Financial assistance for further study plus paid study leave Global career opportunities Responsibilities Lead mechanical design and delivery for major client projects from concept through to completion Apply extensive design experience to deliver innovative, practical, and cost-effective solutions across projects of varying size and complexity Participate in technical reviews and design assurance to meet high standards Collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to interdisciplinary reviews Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to drive project delivery Mentor and develop junior engineers to grow local and national teams Undertake quality control reviews of design calculations, drawings and technical documentation Key requirements 10+ years in Building Services consultancy or senior-level Mechanical Services design experience Strong technical design experience across HVAC and mechanical engineering Experience delivering defence and/or data-centre projects Proven client management, project delivery and stakeholder engagement Ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, and meet deadlines Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline Strong knowledge of Australian building services projects, codes and standards Australian Citizenship required; defence security clearance highly regarded Collaborative mindset Client-focused approach Effective communication HVAC design Mechanical design and delivery Design reviews and design assurance
