We're looking for an experienced Principal SQL Server DBA to lead and shape a database function, supporting a market-leading SaaS practice management platform. UK based, fully remote, this is a hands-on leadership role combining day-to-day management of a business-critical, 24/7 database environment with responsibility for setting long-term strategy, establishing best practices and developing a growing DBA team.
What you'll be doing
Lead the strategy, standards and roadmap for 300+ production databases, predominantly SQL Server hosted on Azure. Provide hands-on database administration, performance tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting. Own backup, restore and disaster recovery processes, ensuring reliability and resilience.
Optimise database performance, configuration, deployment processes and cost efficiency. Lead and develop the DBA team, acting as the senior technical authority across Engineering and Platform Operations. What we're looking for 8+ years' hands-on SQL Server DBA experience.
Strong experience with Azure SQL, including deployment tiers and migration strategies. Proven ability to define database standards, strategy and long-term technical direction.
