Permanent Private Network Design EngineerOur client, a specialist provider within the distribution engineering sector, is seeking a Private Networks Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of private electricity networks.

This permanent, hands-on role offers varied exposure across LV, 11kV and wider network design, with mentoring from experienced engineers to support technical development and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

Producing general arrangements, layouts, single-line diagrams, technical submittals, construction drawings and technical reportsPreparing compliant designs in line with customer requirements, ENA, DNO and IDNO G81 standards, BS7671 and the Business Management SystemSupporting Senior Engineers with design calculations, technical documentation and value engineeringAssisting Tendering Engineers and Project Managers with drawings, tenders and day-to-day technical challengesProducing accurate as-built drawings and ensuring design outputs are buildable, practical and cost-consciousMaintaining design standards, drawing registers and technical documentationEngaging with external stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and escalating design challenges promptlySupporting NERS accreditations, design audits, technical reviews, project financials and continuous improvement initiativesJob

Requirements

HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineExperience with LV and 11kV design principles, with an interest in developing knowledge of EHV networksUnderstanding of the practical application of electrical installations and private electricity networksKnowledge of, or exposure to, earthing design, control, protection and automation schemes would be advantageousFamiliarity with ENA, DNO or IDNO G81 standards and BS7671Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, project managers, engineers and site teamsGood organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritiesSafety awareness, with EUSR, CSCS or ECS certification and First Aid at Work certification, or a willingness to obtain theseProfessional Development: Mentoring and technical development from experienced engineersExposure to a broad range of private network and distribution engineering projectsOpportunities to develop knowledge across LV, 11kV and EHV network designSupport for continued professional development, including progression towards Incorporated Engineer status with the IETInvolvement in best practice, value engineering and continuous improvement initiativesIf you are an Electrical Engineer with experience in LV and 11kV design who is looking to develop within private networks and distribution engineering, apply now to progress your career with Our client.
