Production Supervisor

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Production Supervisor – Outer Packing to join a busy manufacturing team based in Bedford. Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance of the outer packing lines, ensuring production targets and business KPIs are achieved while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and efficiency.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideally within the food industry. Key Responsibilities Supervise and manage a team of Production Operatives, ensuring daily production targets and KPIs are achieved.

Monitor the performance of outer packing lines, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and minimise waste. Ensure all production activities comply with Health & Safety, Quality and Food Safety standards. Maintain strict control over product quality and packaging standards.

Provide leadership and direction in the absence of the Shift Manager. Coach, motivate and develop team members, promoting a positive and productive working environment. Conduct regular safety walks, ensure correct PPE is worn and complete pre-start checks.

Ensure all operatives follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Organise and manage team breaks to maintain smooth production operations. Maintain high housekeeping and 5S standards across the department. Complete and verify production paperwork accurately.

Participate in team meetings, investigations and production reviews. Ensure effective communication and handovers between shifts. Support training and development to build a flexible, multi-skilled workforce. About You The successful candidate will have: Previous experience supervising or leading a team within a manufacturing environment, ideally food production.

A strong understanding of Health & Safety, Quality and Food Safety procedures. Excellent communication and organisational skills. The ability to motivate, support and develop team members. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

The ability to work independently and make decisions when required. Qualifications The following qualifications are

desirable

Level 2 Food Hygiene (Level 3 preferred). IOSH Managing Safely. First Aid or Fire Warden qualification would be advantageous. Shift Pattern This role involves rotating between two weeks of days and two weeks of nights, working 12-hour shifts.

Day Shifts: 6:00am – 6:00pm Night Shifts: 6:00pm – 6:00am Week 1 and 3: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (4 days on, 3 days off). Week 2 and 4: Thursday, Friday and Saturday (3 days on, 4 days off). A full yearly shift pattern will be provided.
