An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join an established civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Pontypridd.

</br>

The company delivers a range of civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure projects for local authority clients across South Wales, and is looking for a Project Manager who can take responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to successful completion.

</br>

This is a hands‑on role suited to a commercially aware Project Manager who enjoys being involved in the detail of project delivery, while also having the opportunity to contribute to pre‑construction, planning, programming and client management.

Responsibilities

</br>

• </br>
• Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of civils and groundworks projects from pre-construction through to completion.
• </br>
• Work closely with clients, local authorities, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered to the required standards.
• </br>
• Become involved in projects during the pre-construction and tender stages, supporting planning, methodology, buildability and resource requirements.
• </br>
• Develop, manage and update detailed project programmes, ensuring key milestones and delivery dates are achieved.
• </br>
• Monitor project progress against programme, identifying potential delays and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
• </br>
• Prepare regular project reports, progress reports and client updates, ensuring management and stakeholders have clear visibility of project performance.
• </br>
• Manage project resources, site teams, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure efficient delivery.
• </br>
• Provide leadership and support to Site Managers, Engineers and wider project teams.
• </br>
• Monitor project costs, budgets, variations and commercial performance in conjunction with the commercial team.
• </br>
• Identify and manage project risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
• </br>
• Attend and lead project meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• </br>
• Manage changes, variations and client instructions throughout the project lifecycle.
• </br>
• Review design information, specifications and construction methodologies, identifying potential issues before works commence.
• </br>

Key Requirements

</br>

• </br>
• Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure.
• </br>
• Experience delivering projects for local authorities, public sector clients or similar organisations.
• </br>
• Strong understanding of civil engineering and groundworks construction.
• </br>
• Experience developing and managing construction programmes.
• </br>
• Strong report writing and project documentation skills.
• </br>
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and communicate effectively with clients.
• </br>
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs, variations and financial performance.
• </br>
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• </br>
• Ability to lead and motivate site-based teams.
• </br>
• Full UK driving licence.
• </br>

Desirable

</br>

• </br>
• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• </br>
• SMSTS or equivalent and CSCS qualification.
• </br>
• Experience working under NEC, JCT or local authority contracts.
• </br>
• Experience with highways, drainage, infrastructure or public realm projects.
• </br>
• Experience contributing to pre-construction, tenders and project methodologies.
• </br>
• Experience using planning/programming software.
• </br>
