Project Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will work as a Quantity Surveyor within Arcadis’ Cost & Commercial Management team to support water sector projects in the Reading and London area. You will help deliver large-scale, transformative projects that protect water resources and support sustainable development. You’ll collaborate with project teams to manage costs, contracts, and procurement throughout the project life cycle, driving value and reducing risk. This is an on-site, client-facing role with a focus on resilience and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Administer post-contract NEC contracts, assess changes and payments
• Liaise with external contractors and consultants
• Support suppliers with accurate project cost data and forecasts
• Provide commercial guidance through gateways to minimise cost and scope changes
• Offer contract support and pre-contract estimates/procurement guidance
• Support project risk and opportunity validation for efficiency
• Participate in lessons learned, risk/value management meetings
• Audit and agree Final Accounts

Key requirements

• Self-management and prioritisation under pressure
• Ability to learn and develop
• Good knowledge of construction processes and cost/commercial management in consultancy
• NEC Contract experience
• Ability to support and mentor junior staff on projects typically 1m–20m
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of influencing stakeholders
• Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
• MRICS or working towards chartership (desirable)
• Experience in water and wastewater and/or regulated industries (desirable)
