PRU Maths Teacher Wandsworth A specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wandsworth is seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Maths Teacher to join their team from September. The provision supports pupils who have struggled to thrive within mainstream education, many of whom present with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, anxiety and significant gaps in their academic learning .
This is an excellent opportunity for a Maths Teacher who can combine strong subject knowledge with a patient, flexible and relationship-led approach. The RoleYou will teach Maths across KS3 and/or KS4, adapting lessons to ensure pupils can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.
You will
Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to individual needs Identify and address gaps in pupils mathematical knowledge Prepare pupils for relevant GCSE, Functional Skills or alternative qualifications Differentiate work according to ability, engagement and SEMH needs Establish clear boundaries while maintaining positive relationships Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour Track progress and contribute to personalised learning plans Work closely with pastoral and SEN teams to support wider pupil development About YouThe successful candidate will ideally have: QTS with Maths specialism, or strong experience teaching Maths Experience within a PRU, AP, SEMH or challenging mainstream environment Excellent behaviour management and classroom management skills The ability to build trust with pupils who may be disengaged from education A calm, consistent and resilient approach A genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people re-engage with learning This role would suit a teacher who enjoys small-group teaching, personalised learning and making a tangible difference to pupils who need a different approach to education .
