A specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South London is looking for an enthusiastic and resilient PE Teacher to join their team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a PE Teacher who understands the power of sport and physical activity to improve engagement, behaviour, confidence and wellbeing among pupils who have struggled within mainstream education.

The Role

As a PRU PE Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible PE lessons to pupils with a range of SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs . You will use sport as a tool to build relationships, develop self-esteem and encourage pupils to re-engage with education.

You will: Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons adapted to individual needs and abilities Deliver a broad range of sporting and physical activities Use sport to develop teamwork, resilience, confidence and positive behaviour Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education Manage challenging behaviour using calm, consistent and restorative approaches Encourage participation from pupils who may have negative experiences of education Track pupil progress and contribute to personalised learning plans Work closely with pastoral, SEN and wider support teams About You

The ideal candidate will have: QTS with a PE specialism, or relevant teaching experience Experience working within a PRU, AP, SEMH or challenging mainstream environment Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills A passion for using sport to engage vulnerable young people A calm, patient and resilient approach The ability to motivate pupils and establish clear, positive boundaries A genuine commitment to helping young people develop both academically and personally Location: Southwark, London Role: PRU PE Teacher Start: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, long-term TPBN1_UKTJ
