Quality Engineer

Contract Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join their team on a contract basis at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.

This role involves developing and implementing quality assurance and control processes to ensure that products and services meet stringent quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Developing and executing inspection and testing proceduresConducting root cause analysis and supporting problem-solving activitiesMonitoring production or construction processes for quality complianceReviewing documentation and verifying that materials/products meet specificationsSupporting audits and quality system implementationsAssisting in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processesCollecting and analysing quality data to identify trends and improvementsJob

Requirements

Professionally qualified operator and/or graduateQuality-related qualifications and industry experience, particularly with ISO standardsExperience in a similar role, preferably within the Nuclear and Defence sectorCSCS Green Labourer certificationStrong understanding of quality principles, inspection methods, and testingFamiliarity with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysisKnowledge of relevant standards, specifically ISO 9001 and industry-specific standardsBasic statistical and data analysis skillsExcellent communication and problem-solving abilitiesDue to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required, which can take up to 8 weeks.

Please note that eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, and any current or former citizenship and residency. Working hours are 45 hours per week, from 07:30 to 17:00, reporting into the Principal Quality Engineer.
