Salary £40 - £45k Job Elements Ensure compliance with the required quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, customer-specific requirements). Develop, implement, and maintain quality plans, inspection plans, and control plans for new and existing products.
Conduct root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Lead investigations into internal non-conformances, customer complaints, and supplier quality issues.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes to ensure quality requirements are clearly defined and achievable. Participate in design reviews, process validation, and production readiness activities.
Perform process capability studies and statistical analysis using Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques where appropriate. Support internal, customer, and third-party audits and assist in maintaining audit readiness.
Work closely with suppliers to resolve quality issues and support supplier development initiatives. Promote continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Prepare quality reports and present findings to management and customers as required.
Ensure calibration, inspection, and testing activities are conducted in accordance with applicable procedures. The ideal candidate will have: Experience within the automotive, aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
Experience as a Quality Engineer within a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of quality management systems and quality assurance principles. Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements. Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical discipline. Experience using quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, SPC, MSA, and PPAP (where applicable).
