Quality Engineer

Overview

In this role you will drive supplier quality and ensure Napier’s supply chain meets the highest standards. You will investigate non-conformances, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions across suppliers.

You’ll audit the Quality Management System, support supplier improvements, and manage performance dashboards. You will collaborate with Procurement, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to improve reliability of components for power generation, marine, and rail applications.

This is a hands-on role in a heritage engineering environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Improve supplier performance and ensure supply chain quality
• Investigate supplier non-conformances and lead root cause analysis
• Audit supplier compliance with Napier’s Quality Management System and drive improvement actions
• Measure and maintain supplier performance via vendor assessment
• Lead supplier investigations and manage corrective action processes (5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, 8D)
• Support suppliers with technical and process improvements
• Conduct supplier risk assessments and participate in new supplier evaluations and approvals
• Manage supplier scorecards, KPIs, and quality dashboards
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams

Key requirements

• Experience in engineering or manufacturing environments with a focus on quality improvement
• Experience with supplier quality and performance management
• Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC)
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles knowledge
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC
• Non-conformance management and supplier corrective actions
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Experience with manufacturing processes (CNC, casting, welding, moulding, coatings)
