Quantity Surveyor - Ground Engineering

Job Description BAM UK & Ireland's Ground Engineering unit are looking for a talented Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team and play a pivotal role in delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across Scotland. Based from our Kilsyth office near Glasgow, you'll work with industry-leading specialists, take commercial ownership of multiple projects, and drive the commercial reporting and performance of a key department.
Combining strategic commercial responsibility with regular site engagement, this role offers exposure to every stage of a project from pre-construction (including Contract negotiations), to project delivery and project close out, with monthly visits to projects across Scotland.

Making Possible As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following: Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policyMaintain effective communication with peers and managersProvide commercial advice and support to the team at all stages from pre-construction to project hand-backCommercial management for dispute avoidanceWorking with the operational team to monitor project and departmental costsPrepare monthly cost and value reports including risk management, quarterly reports and present to senior managementTake part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategyUnderstand and promote usage of Company ProceduresRisk and opportunity management including identification and assessment of risks and opportunity both internally and externallyChange management including assessing and agreeing change with the clientEnsure timely production of appropriate levels of applications for paymentsAttend and provide input to all site required meetingsManage time effectively working on multiple projects of varying value, in a structured mannerWhat do you bring to the role?
EssentialSuccessful experience at Quantity Surveyor level working for tier 1 or 2 contractors (other backgrounds may be considered)Understanding of basic contract law and contractual obligations with strong commercial awarenessMember of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES, (or similar) preferredOpen Collaborative approach and willing to help and assist those around youExcellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesMobility to attend sites across Scotland in a visiting capacityEducated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential)DesirableExperience of a similar role, with good knowledge of Ground Investigation.
