Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Permanent Yorkshire Salary Dependent on Experience The Client We are working with an established and growing residential developer who is looking to appoint an Assistant / Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.

The business specialises in delivering high-quality new-build homes across the residential sector, with a strong focus on quality, customer satisfaction and creating well-designed communities. The Role This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has recently progressed from an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position into a Quantity Surveyor role and is looking to further develop their commercial experience within a housebuilding environment.

Working closely with the wider commercial and operational teams, you will take responsibility for supporting the financial management of residential developments, ensuring costs are controlled and projects are delivered within budget.

Key Responsibilities Assist with the commercial management of residential developments from inception through to completion. Prepare and monitor budgets, cost plans and financial forecasts. Manage subcontractor and supplier packages, including procurement, tendering and negotiations.

Review and agree subcontractor valuations, variations and final accounts. Monitor project costs, identifying potential savings and commercial risks. Assist with cost reporting and cash flow forecasting. Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure commercial targets are achieved.

Ensure accurate commercial records and documentation are maintained. Key Requirements Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally with some exposure to housebuilding. Understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.

Good commercial awareness and an understanding of construction costs. Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills. Confident communicating with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams. Proactive, commercially minded and keen to take on additional responsibility. Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification would be beneficial
