Make a real difference. Lead a skilled team. Keep homes safe, accessible and comfortable.
</br>
Are you a practical, hands‑on professional who can lead a team while still getting stuck in when needed?
</br>
We’re looking for a Hands‑On Repairs Supervisor to support a busy care and repair service helping older people and people with disabilities to live safely and independently in their own homes.
</br>
This is a varied role combining team leadership, practical building skills, health & safety, stock management and quality control. No two days are likely to be the same.
</br>
What you’ll be doing
</br>
You’ll help lead a team delivering small repairs, adaptations and fast‑track home improvement services, including work supporting people returning home from hospital.
</br>
Your responsibilities will include:
</br>
- </br>
- Leading, supporting and monitoring a team of practical operatives.
- </br>
- Carrying out site visits, spot checks and regular quality audits.
- </br>
- Supporting colleagues with more complex practical work when required.
- </br>
- Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- </br>
- Organising vehicles, tools, equipment and PPE.
- </br>
- Managing stock levels, deliveries and materials.
- </br>
- Carrying out regular tool and equipment audits.
- </br>
- Delivering toolbox talks and promoting excellent health & safety standards.
- </br>
- Reviewing risk assessments and identifying potential hazards.
- </br>
- Managing annual leave and flexi‑time within the team.
- </br>
- Working with external partners and organisations to deliver agreed services.
- </br>
- Assessing and costing repair/adaptation work where required.
- </br>
- Helping investigate customer complaints and resolve issues.
- </br>
- Contributing to service improvements, pricing schedules and purchasing decisions.
- </br>
</br>
What we’re looking for
</br>
You’ll need a strong practical background and a good level of competency across complementary trade disciplines. Just as importantly, you’ll be confident leading people, organising workloads and maintaining high standards.
</br>
We’re looking for someone who is:
</br>
- </br>
- Practical and solutions‑focused
- </br>
- A confident team leader
- </br>
- Organised and reliable
- </br>
- Comfortable working across different trades
- </br>
- Strong on health & safety
- </br>
- Quality‑conscious
- </br>
- A good communicator
- </br>
- Customer‑focused and compassionate
- </br>
- Confident working with partner organisations and contractors
- </br>
</br>
You’ll need to be comfortable balancing hands‑on work with leadership and administration - from checking a van and tools in the morning to carrying out a site audit, supporting a colleague on a complex job or resolving a stock issue in the afternoon.
</br>
Why this role matters
</br>
This isn’t just about fixing things.
</br>
The work you and your team deliver can help someone remain independent, return home from hospital safely, or continue living comfortably in their own home.
</br>
You’ll play a key role in making sure a practical service runs smoothly, safely and with the people who use it at the heart of everything you do.
</br>
Ready for a role where your practical skills and leadership really count?

If you’re an experienced tradesperson or practical professional who is ready to take the next step into a team leadership role - while keeping your hands dirty when necessary - we’d love to hear from you.
