This is an important role within the finance team, with responsibility for sales invoicing, maintaining customer accounts and managing credit control. The role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of the sales ledger from invoice through to payment.
Responsibilities for Sales Ledger ClerkAs Sales Ledger Clerk, you will manage day-to-day sales ledger activity and work closely with customers and internal teams to ensure invoices, payments and account information remain accurate and up to date.
Produce and issue customer sales invoices and credit notesManage the sales ledger and maintain accurate customer accountsCarry out credit control and follow up overdue balancesAllocate customer receipts and reconcile accountsInvestigate invoice, payment and account discrepanciesLiaise with Sales, Despatch and Operations teams to resolve queriesSupport month-end procedures and finance reportingAssist with wider finance administration when requiredRequirements for Sales Ledger ClerkThe ideal candidate will have previous experience within sales ledger, accounts receivable or a similar finance role.
You should be numerically accurate, organised and confident communicating with customers regarding invoices and overdue accounts. Experience in sales ledger, accounts receivable or a similar finance roleExperience using Sage Accounts or a similar accounting packageGood Microsoft Excel and Office skillsStrong numerical accuracy and attention to detailConfident carrying out professional and persistent credit controlGood organisation with the ability to manage priorities and deadlinesStrong telephone and email communication skillsProactive approach to identifying and resolving account issuesManufacturing, engineering or SME experience would be advantageous
