A successful secondary school in Liverpool is seeking an experienced School Business Manager to join its leadership and operations structure from October Half Term 2026. This is a broad senior position covering finance, HR, premises, procurement and general school operations.

You'll work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team, helping ensure the school has the systems, resources and infrastructure required to operate effectively. For an experienced School Business Manager or senior operations professional, this is an opportunity to have a genuine influence over the day-to-day and long-term running of a school.

The Role You'll have responsibility across a wide range of business and operational functions, including: Leading financial planning, budgeting and monitoring Preparing financial reports and management information Overseeing HR administration and recruitment processes Managing procurement, contracts and supplier relationships Supporting premises, estates and health & safety Monitoring compliance and statutory requirements Managing operational budgets and identifying efficiencies Supporting strategic planning and school improvement projects Working closely with senior leaders on resource allocation Leading and developing business support functions Who We're Looking For The school is looking for an experienced School Business Manager, Operations Manager, Finance Manager or senior business professional with excellent organisational and commercial awareness.

You'll be confident managing budgets, people and external suppliers and able to provide clear advice to senior leaders. Previous experience within a school, academy or MAT would be advantageous, although candidates with strong operational or financial management experience from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
