Location: Winchester Contract: Full-Time, Permanent / Long-Term Hours: Typical school shifts (e.g., 7:30am – 4:30pm or split shifts) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience About the Role A welcoming school in the historic city of Winchester is looking for a dedicated Caretaker / Site Assistant to join their team immediately.
As the face of the site , you will play a crucial role in ensuring the school remains a safe, clean, and fully functioning environment where students can thrive. This is a varied role, combining physical work, problem-solving, and health & safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities General Maintenance: Carry out essential repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decorating. Site Security: Open and close the school daily, manage alarms, and perform key-holding duties.
Health & Safety: Conduct regular inspections and maintain accurate records for fire safety, water hygiene (Legionella), and playground equipment. Grounds Upkeep: Keep school grounds tidy, manage waste disposal, and complete seasonal tasks such as gritting during winter.
Candidate Requirements Experience: Previous experience in caretaking, site management, or trades is highly desirable. Reliability: A dependable professional who takes pride in the security of the premises. Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with the School Business Manager and cleaning staff.
