All The Top Bananas ·
New College Bradford is looking for enthusiastic and practically minded Science Technicians to play an important role in supporting outstanding science teaching across A Level Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as well as BTEC Science.
Working closely with teaching staff and fellow technicians, you will help ensure that laboratories, equipment and resources are ready for high-quality practical learning. You will prepare equipment, chemicals and solutions for lessons, set up and clear away practical activities, maintain laboratory equipment and stock, and trial experiments and investigations ahead of their use in the classroom.
This is also a role with plenty of variety. You may assist with demonstrations and practical sessions, support students in their use of equipment, help organise assessed practical work and contribute to the safe running of our laboratories.
You will also play a part in maintaining high standards of health and safety, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals and equipment. There are two posts available. Full-time and part-time applications will be considered.
Please state the number of days/hours you would like to be considered for. About you You will have practical experience gained within a technical or scientific environment and an understanding of Biology and/or Chemistry to A Level standard.
You will be organised, reliable and confident working with students and colleagues, with the ability to prioritise your workload and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You do not necessarily need to have worked in a school or college before, although experience within an educational science environment would be an advantage.
Experience of areas such as chemical handling, preparing Biology experiments, PAT testing or other practical science disciplines would also be welcomed. Most importantly, you will bring enthusiasm for science, a supportive approach to students and a commitment to maintaining a safe, well-organised environment in which practical learning can flourish.
