As AMP8 delivery gathers pace, we are looking for a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join GHD's growing Water team, based in either Leeds or Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a passion for delivering resilient and sustainable infrastructure solutions across the water and wastewater sector.
You'll play a key role in the design and delivery of major projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams and supporting some of the UK's leading water utility clients. The OpportunityAs a Senior Civil Structural Engineer, you'll contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support.
You'll be involved in a diverse range of infrastructure projects, including:Reinforced concrete structuresWater-retaining structuresBuried and underground structuresWastewater treatment assetsPumping stations and hydraulic structuresRetaining walls and foundation designAsset refurbishment and upgrade programmesWorking within multidisciplinary teams, you'll collaborate with civil, structural, process, mechanical, electrical and geotechnical specialists to develop practical, innovative and buildable engineering solutions.
What You'll DoLead and undertake civil and structural design activities across water and wastewater projects. Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation. Deliver reinforced concrete and structural designs for water-retaining and buried structures.
Support the technical delivery of major AMP8 programmes and capital investment schemes. Mentor and develop junior engineers and graduates. Manage project deliverables to quality, programme and budget requirements. Engage confidently with clients, contractors and internal project teams.
Contribute to work-winning activities and technical excellence initiatives. About YouWe're looking for someone with approximately 5+ years' experience in civil and structural engineering, ideally gained within the UK water sector.
You'll bring:Experience designing reinforced concrete structures. Knowledge of water-retaining structures, tanks, chambers and buried assets. Experience in the water and wastewater sector. Understanding of retaining wall and foundation design.
Experience preparing and checking engineering calculations, reports and technical specifications. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.A collaborative approach and passion for developing others. Desirable:Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
