ContractLondon, United Kingdom 700p/dSenior Data Engineer – ContractLondon | Hybrid, 1 day per week3–6 months | Inside IR35600–800 per dayASAP startWe're partnering with a large, complex global organisation looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to provide immediate technical leadership across its data engineering function.

This is a senior, hands-on contract for someone who can quickly understand an established data estate, identify opportunities for improvement and set a high standard across engineering quality, performance and delivery. Responsibilities will include: Designing and improving engineering patterns across Azure Databricks and Azure Data FactoryDriving performance and optimisation across caching, indexing, partitioning and costReviewing code and acting as a technical quality gateImproving DevOps practices across CI/CD, environment promotion, branching and release managementIdentifying opportunities to automate repetitive engineering processesWorking with advanced SQL across existing engineering patternsSupporting data quality, governance and orchestrationWorking closely with data engineering, analytics, data science and platform teamsHelping establish consistent engineering standards across the wider serviceWe're looking for strong hands-on experience across: Azure DatabricksAzure Data FactorySpark / PySparkAdvanced SQL and performance optimisationCI/CD and Azure DevOpsDelta Lake and medallion architectureUnity CatalogData governance and orchestrationAPI-based data ingestionExperience working with high-volume operational, IoT or telemetry data would be particularly valuable.
