Job Description Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Outside IR35 / MOD / Defence - High Security Clearance£550-£600 per day Outside IR35 (expenses if required)Somerset | On-siteDV ClearedAre you an Infrastructure Engineer with strong hands-on experience across networking, storage, virtualisation and Windows infrastructure?
This is a contract role working on the build and deployment of infrastructure within a highly secure Defence environment in Somerset. You'll be working across the physical and virtual infrastructure stack, including Cisco Nexus networking, NetApp storage, Hyper-V, VMware and Windows Server.
This is a hands-on engineering position, suited to someone comfortable building, configuring and hardening infrastructure rather than purely supporting an established environment. The roleWorking alongside infrastructure engineers and architects, you'll be responsible for areas including: Configuring and hardening Cisco Nexus Leaf/Spine network infrastructureInitialising and presenting NetApp storage , including data-at-rest encryptionBuilding and hardening Hyper-V clusters for core services including AD, DNS and PKISupporting the integration and enablement of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)Working with HSM/KMS appliances and hardware-based cryptographic systemsSupporting key management and key ceremony activitiesBuilding and configuring Windows Server 2022/2025 environmentsCompleting physical infrastructure installation, including rack-and-stack and secure cablingWorking to the security and engineering standards required within a Defence environmentWhat you'll needYou'll need strong infrastructure engineering experience, ideally including: Cisco Nexus or equivalent enterprise networking technologiesNetApp ONTAP or comparable enterprise storageHyper-V deployment within highly available environmentsVMware Cloud Foundation , ideally VCF 5+Windows Server 2022/2025Understanding of AD, DNS and PKIExperience with HSM/KMS technologies would be beneficialExperience delivering physical infrastructure, including rack-and-stack and cablingDue to the nature of the project, you'll need to have active DV Clearance.
