Overview

Senior Safety Case Expert to join AECOM’s Nuclear Team, focusing on delivering robust safety cases across civil and defence sectors. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning, coordinating with clients, partners, and regulators to ensure “right first time” technical delivery. The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to grow the nuclear safety capability. You’ll tackle diverse, high-profile projects and help shape best practices in safety case development.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety case delivery on nuclear projects and oversee technical quality
• Support winning work and bid activities related to nuclear safety
• Develop client relationships to enable accurate, timely technical delivery
• Advise on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance
• Coordinate with regulators and safety committees throughout project stages
• Mentor and coach nuclear safety case team members
• Contribute to nuclear safety training for internal and external stakeholders
• Stay abreast of new regulatory developments and recommend improvements

Key requirements

• Experience developing nuclear safety cases in civil and/or defence sectors
• Experience mentoring, training, and coaching colleagues
• Competence level aligned with SQEP within Nuclear Safety Case Discipline
• Security Clearance eligibility (SC level)
• Honours 2:1 or Masters in STEM or equivalent UK nuclear industry qualifications
• Chartership (or active progress towards) in a STEM discipline
• Communication with clients and teams

• Nuclear safety case development
• Regulatory compliance knowledge
