Senior Process Engineer

Overview

As a Process Engineer in the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit, you will support the design of thermal and fluid systems for the SMR project. You will generate analyses and calculations to demonstrate system performance and contribute to an internal centre of excellence. You will collaborate with safety teams to ensure compliance and integrate Turbine Island design within the power plant. This role offers impact across engineering, safety, and supplier interfaces in a cutting-edge nuclear context.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements and challenge designs when needed
• Create and review Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Layout Drawings, component sizing calculations, and specifications
• Conduct and review option studies and design documents
• Develop and review functional and design requirements
• Integrate Turbine Island design into the broader power plant
• Provide technical support for Turbine Island interface and stakeholder activities
• Support safety and compliance activities, including design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, and HS policies
• Collaborate with safety teams on nuclear safety licensing and environmental permitting

Key requirements

• Background in nuclear sector or regulated industries (e.g., thermal power, oil and gas)
• Knowledge of steam turbines, condensers, feedwater heaters, pumps, and piping systems
• Experience from FEED to detailed design and EPC delivery
• Procurement and supplier liaison experience
• Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Familiarity with UK Health and Safety regulations, safety systems, and HAZOP
• Understanding of ASME, European, and UK standards
• Systems engineering experience or awareness desirable
