This is a remote position. 4-month contract role with a local authority Summary: The Procurement Officer is a 4-month contract role with a local authority designed to support and lead end-to-end procurement activities across the Council.
This position is crucial for ensuring compliance with public procurement legislation Council policies and best practices. The role involves providing strategic procurement advice and guidance to Council Officers aiming to achieve value for money and positive outcomes in the commissioning of goods works and services.
Responsibilities
Manage and deliver end-to-end procurement exercises from initial requirement through to contract award and implementation. Provide professional procurement advice and guidance to Council Officers and stakeholders. Ensure all procurement and contractual activities comply with relevant public procurement legislation regulations and Council standing orders.
Develop and implement procurement strategies that support service objectives and deliver value for money. Prepare and review tender documentation specifications evaluation criteria contracts and procurement reports. Lead supplier engagement activities and manage tender processes through appropriate procurement portals and systems.
Requirements
Essential Experience Required: Significant experience managing the full end-to-end procurement process. Proven experience working within a Local Authority or Public Sector procurement environment. Essential Qualifications Required: Degree-level qualification in Procurement Business Law Public Administration or a related discipline; or Professional procurement qualification such as CIPS Level 4 or above.
Evidence of continued professional development within procurement. Additional Information: Working hours: 30 hours per week. Remote working: This role is likely to be conducted in a predominantly remote manner with any occasional site visits arranged by prior agreement.
