Job Description Excellent opportunity for a Senior Product Safety Engineer to join a growing specialist engineering organisation delivering advanced defence and maritime technology solutions. This is a key technical leadership role focused on ensuring products and systems are safe, compliant and certifiable throughout the project lifecycle.
Working within the Supportability Engineering team, you will act as the focal point for Product and System Safety Assurance across a diverse portfolio of programmes, supporting the delivery of complex engineering solutions for defence customers.
Key responsibilities for the Senior Product Safety Engineer - Defence role, hybrid, based in Surrey: Lead Product and System Safety Assurance activities across bids, projects and programmesDevelop and implement Safety Management Systems and Safety Management PlansConduct detailed Safety Analysis, Risk Evaluation and Safety Case developmentLead Hazard Identification and Analysis activities, maintaining comprehensive Hazard LogsCarry out Safety Risk Assessments to support compliance and Safety Case managementProduce technical reports, safety documentation and presentations for internal and external stakeholdersProvide Safety Engineering input into bids and proposals, including effort estimation and work package definitionManage the delivery of internal and subcontracted safety activitiesSupport the integration of product safety considerations throughout the engineering design processLead and participate in Safety Working Groups with customers, suppliers and project teamsEnsure compliance with relevant safety legislation, regulations and industry standardsKey skills & requirements for the Senior Product Safety Engineer - Defence role, hybrid, based in Surrey: Proven Product Safety Engineering experience within complex engineering systemsStrong background in Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment and Safety Case developmentExperience leading Hazard Identification and Hazard Analysis activitiesGood understanding of Product Safety standards and regulations, including Def Stan 00-056, DSA02-DMR and IEC 61508Knowledge of CE and UKCA compliance requirementsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to engage effectively with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience managing and mentoring technical teamsDegree qualified in Engineering, Mathematics, Science or a related disciplineMust be a Sole UK NationalEligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC minimum, DV preferred)Full UK driving licenceDesirable experience: Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartershipPrevious experience within the Defence or Maritime sectorsThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Surrey based Senior Product Safety Engineer looking to take ownership of safety assurance activities within a dynamic engineering environment, working on innovative and mission-critical defence programmes.
