Senior Project Controller

Overview

In this role you will monitor and control scope, resources and cost across assigned programmes within the Special Projects function. You’ll use SAP and project tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project) to plan, track, and report performance, including EACs and dashboards for boards and steering committees. Based onsite in Ampthill 4 days a week, you’ll translate data into actionable insights and drive corrective actions to keep budgets and schedules on track. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that shapes how large undertakings are delivered.

Responsibilities

• Budgeting and resource planning for projects and programmes, including EAC development
• Create executive dashboards and narrative presentations for Board and customer steering committees
• Consolidate data for Control Account Managers and support approvals
• Review supplier quotes against plans to manage material forecast
• Lead monthly Variance Analysis reporting and implement corrective actions
• Coordinate with Programme Finance and PM to ensure budgets meet customer and business requirements
• Assist in bids, proposals, and delivery of Executive Presentation Panel reviews
• Drive Baseline Change control and cascade changes to stakeholders
• Monitor risks and opportunities and manage reserves with justification
• Own weekly/monthly/ad-hoc team cadence and cadence for reporting
• Analyze Actuals vs Plan for deployed personnel and advise PM on challenges
• Check resource levels and utilization for Resource Management Tool
• Generate P6-driven insights for CAMs, Finance, and Programme steering
• Produce outputs to support strategic decisions and schedule alignment

Key requirements

• Experience as Project Controller/Project Analyst in a PMO environment
• Defence sector experience preferred or equivalent engineering environment
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actions
• Working knowledge of SAP cost planning and reporting
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to quickly adapt to new tools, systems and processes
