Senior Python Developer - Cloud Automation

Overview

In this role you will build automation frameworks and IaC for secure, enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure within a government technology project. You will collaborate with cloud, platform and engineering teams to improve automation, reliability and scalability, delivering production-quality Python code and reusable tooling. The role focuses on automating infrastructure delivery, infrastructure as code, and templates, reducing manual processes. This is a hands-on software engineering position with a meaningful impact on a high-profile programme.

Responsibilities

• Build automation frameworks and tooling using Python
• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions with Terraform
• Create reusable templates and code generation platforms using Jinja2
• Automate Windows environments via PowerShell
• Manage and improve configuration management with Puppet
• Build CI/CD integrations for infrastructure delivery
• Collaborate with cloud, platform and engineering teams to boost automation and efficiency
• Drive infrastructure standardisation, reliability and scalability across complex environments

Key requirements

• Strong commercial Python development experience
• Experience building automation tools, frameworks or platforms
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience
• Experience with AWS cloud services
• Puppet configuration management experience
• CI/CD and DevOps automation experience
• Passion for engineering best practices, testing and code quality
• Experience working in cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments
