Job Description Senior Quantity Surveyor Project / Department Overview Our client has secured extensive work across the UK water sector to support the AMP8 investment cycle. The organisation has been appointed to a major water infrastructure enterprise to help shape and deliver a strategic infrastructure upgrade programme, with a long-term programme of works valued at up to approximately £670 million over 15 years.

Job Description / Purpose The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all assigned commercial activities within the project environment. The role will involve all aspects of the project lifecycle, with a focus on minimising project costs, maximising value for money and ensuring the required standards and quality are achieved in accordance with the contract and the expectations of the Customer and Contract Leader.

Key Responsibilities Efficiently and effectively manage and issue accurate, timely and compliant contractual notices and correspondence. Identify contractual and commercial risks and opportunities and ensure these are communicated to the Contract Leader.

Prepare and agree applications for payment, or assess and prepare payment certificates where required. Maintain registers covering variations, delays, extensions of time and claims. Ensure compliant and consistent implementation of the Company's commercial policies and procedures.

Assist with monthly progress valuations and preparation of claims for completed works. Interface effectively with the Customer's commercial and project teams. Support pre-contract tender negotiations and prepare commercial reports where required.

Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts and Contract Leader reports. Review value management opportunities and provide advice on risk management. Prepare supply chain enquiries, negotiate, administer and ultimately finalise/close out supply chain contracts.

Plan and implement change management and cost control processes. Monitor and update the supply chain procurement plan, including benchmarking activities. Maintain ongoing liaison with the site team, supply chain and Customer representatives.

Provide contractual advice to the project and site teams as required. Maintain awareness and understanding of the various construction contracts currently in use. Understand and comply with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations, ensuring any associated risks are promptly brought to the attention of the Contract Leader and/or Project Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Significant post-graduate commercial experience within the construction industry, with a demonstrable track record of achievement. Strong financial and commercial acumen. A practical approach, logical thought process and methodical way of working.

Extensive experience of establishing and/or operating office management systems, including filing, document control and distribution systems. Extensive experience of technical minute-taking at contractual meetings, with the ability to collate information and prepare reports, payment certificates, interim financial reports and close-out reports.

Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and facilitating collaborative solutions. Proven negotiation and team-working skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team. Strong analytical skills.

Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge. Confidence and the ability to influence and engage effectively with stakeholders. Desirable Previous commercial experience within the water sector. A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.

Experience of developing and implementing procurement and contract strategies. Qualifications Essential Degree accredited by RICS or CICES. Desirable Full Membership of RICS or CICES, or currently working towards completion of full membership.
