Senior Software Developer II - Wise for Banks

Overview

In this role you will own backend solutions for Wise Cash Management, partnering with product managers and banks to design, build, test and operate services that move money and settle payments. You’ll balance delivery speed with reliability and maintainability, explaining tradeoffs clearly. You’ll work across system boundaries to align interfaces and impact the wider payment journey. You’ll strengthen testing and observability to improve dependability and mentor teammates. This is hands-on ownership with opportunities to influence architecture and product direction.

Responsibilities

• Own solutions from problem to production across backend services
• Design, build, test and operate backend services with product managers and engineers
• Make thoughtful technical decisions and explain tradeoffs
• Work with other teams to define interfaces and understand impact on the payment journey
• Improve systems through testing, observability, and reliability improvements
• Help the team succeed through reviews, pairing and mentoring

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience building or contributing to large-scale distributed systems
• Strong backend engineering experience with relational databases, event-driven systems, and OO language
• Product-minded: can explain customer problems and how solutions matter
• Ability to own work with autonomy and involve others when needed
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
