Senior Software Engineer II - Contacts Team - Java

Overview

In this role you will help drive the backend vision for Wise’s recipient management experience. You will work within an autonomous engineering squad to scale and improve a world-class recipient platform, powering seamless discovery and secure storage of tens of millions of accounts.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to ship robust APIs and data-driven improvements that enhance customer experience. This is a chance to impact how people and businesses manage money globally, across payment rails and local integrations like Pix.

Responsibilities

• Drive the technical vision for the backend powering the recipient UX
• Scale and build the recipient management product
• Support end-to-end experience from platform security to customer-facing interfaces
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and analysts in an agile setup
• Design, deploy and maintain clean RESTful APIs
• Write testable code and apply Test Driven Development
• Ensure high availability and reliability of services

Key requirements

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems
• Java 8+ knowledge
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization and schema design
• Strong product mindset with focus on customer experience and data-driven decisions
• Collaborative mindset and ability to align cross-functional teams
• Experience designing, deploying and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Commitment to best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback
• Experience with writing testable code and TDD
