Senior Software Engineer II - KYC Experience

Overview

In this role you will design and build public APIs powering Wise Platform partnerships and the KYC onboarding experience. You will work in an autonomous, cross-functional squad to shape scalable API infrastructure and reliable microservices. You’ll influence product roadmaps, drive cross-team initiatives, and mentor others to raise technical standards. This is a chance to impact how partners onboard customers compliantly and seamlessly, contributing to Wise’s mission of efficient, borderless money movement. You will operate at scale with security and reliability at the core.

Responsibilities

• Design and build intuitive public-facing APIs for Wise Platform and partners
• Own and drive domain-level technical roadmaps, addressing debt, reliability, scalability, and security
• Architect robust microservices using event-driven patterns
• Influence product strategy in collaboration with PMs and cross-functional teams
• Lead cross-team initiatives to unlock new features and partner value
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and best practices

Key requirements

• Strong foundation in Java or JVM-based language and Spring framework
• Experience building and operating microservices and event-driven architectures
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems
• Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases incl. data lifecycle management
• Product-minded with data-driven decision making
• Experience leading cross-team initiatives and communicating with non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
