Senior Systems Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead efforts to reduce Wellington’s attack surface through vulnerability management, cloud configuration assessments, and threat intelligence. You’ll partner with Development and Information Security to secure the software lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines. You will drive automation and hardening programs to meet CIS controls and threat-led baselines. This is a hands-on, collaborative role with a focus on practical security impact and risk reduction.

Responsibilities

• Assess vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and vectors; communicate risk and actions to stakeholders
• Leverage CNAPP tools to guide remediation and advise application custodians
• Act as security liaison between InfoSec and Development to secure software lifecycle
• Review Wellington CI/CD pipeline and advise on code security enhancements
• Lead urgent vulnerability responses and assist Cyber Defense as needed
• Automate workflows and data assessments using scripting and AI
• Develop internal hardening and baselines program aligned to CIS Controls
• Stay updated on threats and map industry threats to the attack surface
• Collaborate with Third-Party Risk to assess external exposure in vendor ecosystem
• Contribute to team and firmwide documentation on processes, tools, and standards

Key requirements

• BS degree in Information Systems or related discipline or equivalent IT experience
• Experience with CNAPP and vulnerability management platforms (WIZ CNAPP, Qualys)
• Hands-on vulnerability assessment experience and risk prioritization using CVE/CVSS/EPSS frameworks
• Knowledge of common attack types (DDoS, SQLi, XSS)
• Scripting experience (Python) to automate tasks
• Working knowledge of IaC and AWS; cloud security in practice
• Understanding of threat intelligence and threat feeds
• Ability to mentor juniors and work with global teams
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
