Sheet Metal Worker Thamesmead, South East London (SE28) You must have at least 23 years of experience as a sheet metal worker. Full-time, Permanent Monday to Friday, 8:00am4:30pm (8 hours per day, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break) Competitive salary dependent on qualifications and experience + opportunities for overtime Please note: you must be authorised to work in the UK Our client is an established British engineering company specialising in the lift industry.

Founded in 1998, they manufacture, refurbish and install lift interiors and associated components for customers ranging from smaller subcontractors to major international lift companies. Their South London premises include fully equipped fabrication, engraving, polishing, welding and woodworking workshops.

About the role

They are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join their Thamesmead workshop. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows their way around sheet metal, can work accurately from engineering drawings and takes pride in producing properly finished work.

Youll be fabricating lift components, architectural metalwork and construction items, mainly using stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.

Key responsibilities

Component Fabrication: Manufacture lift car panels, doors, architrave fascias, ceilings, sill assemblies, jambs, and bespoke structural cladding Blueprint Interpretation: Read and precisely follow architectural layouts, structural designs, and engineering CAD drawings Material Preparation: Mark out, cut, punch, and fold thin-gauge metals including architectural stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium (typically 0.5mm to 3mm) Machine Operation: Safely set up and operate workshop machinery including CNC brake presses, guillotines, and laser cutters Aesthetic Finishing: Grind, blend, polish, and grain brushed or mirror-finish stainless steel to satisfy strict architectural presentation requirements Quality Assurance: Inspect all components with micrometres and callipers to ensure tight tolerances match British Standards and lift clearance specifications Key skills and

Experience: Minimum 23 years of experience as a sheet metal fabricator, ideally dealing with architectural metals or lift/elevator parts

Skills

Excellent mechanical aptitude, reading engineering drawings, and safe operation of workshop power tools Site Credentials: A valid CSCS card is preferred in case site visits, surveys, or minor assistance with lift shaft installation as required, but not essential
