Software Development Manager, Ring Video Platform

Overview In this role you lead a Ring Video Platform team to shape the technical direction and roadmap for scalable, reliable video services. You stay close to architecture, performance, and failure modes while mentoring engineers and building trust as a technical voice.
You'll drive AI-enabled improvements across the software lifecycle and partner with device, cloud, and app teams to deliver cross-functional launches. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced, scale-driven environment that values innovation and high standards.
Responsibilities Set the teams technical direction and roadmap, balancing new customer experiences with long-term platform health Lead deep architectural, performance, and reliability analyses and justify design trade-offs Prototype new approaches and turn promising ideas into production systems Shape how AI is used across the software lifecycle to improve outcomes Hire, coach and develop engineers and foster a culture of ownership and high standards Collaborate across device, cloud, and app teams to deliver cross-system launches Communicate with senior leadership using narratives, metrics and data-driven decisions Key requirements Knowledge of engineering practices across the full software/hardware/networks lifecycle Experience in engineering team management Experience in engineering Experience in leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services Experience working directly within engineering teams Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Experience partnering with product and program management teams Strong communication with senior leadership Mentoring and coaching of engineers Cross-functional collaboration Full software/hardware/networks development life cycle practices Multi-tier web services architecture and design Design patterns, reliability and scalability
