About The Role
</br>
We're looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to join our Back of House engineering team and help build, support and evolve a range of business-critical applications. Working across a range of Bravissimo applications, you'll develop APIs, backend services and event-driven solutions that support key business areas including product management, customer acquisition, ordering and fulfilment.
</br>
Bravissimo is in the middle of a major digital transformation programme, with plans to transition our legacy.NET estate to new service-based architectures. We're evolving towards a full-stack engineering environment, with TypeScript, Node.js, React and AWS at the heart of our modern applications and services.
</br>
You'll contribute to modern cloud-based solutions while also supporting established business-critical applications as part of our ongoing technology modernisation programme.
</br>
This is a hands-on development role for someone who enjoys writing quality software, problem solving and continually developing their technical skills. It requires a blend of backend and frontend skills, but with a heavy focus on the backend. You'll work collaboratively to shape technical solutions and deliver meaningful business outcomes.
</br>
Key Responsibilities:
</br>
- </br>
- Support, maintain and improve existing business applications, preparing them for the digital transformation.
- </br>
- Build and support scalable applications using TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js.
- </br>
- Design, develop and maintain APIs, backend services and integrations, and cloud-based solutions.
- </br>
- Work with databases and data integrations across multiple systems.
- </br>
- Contribute to event-driven and API-led architectures.
- </br>
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- </br>
- Participate in the ongoing modernisation of legacy systems and platforms.
- </br>
- Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- </br>
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, refinement, reviews and retrospectives.
- </br>
</br>
Technical environment
</br>
Target technology stack and tooling:
</br>
- </br>
- AWS microservice capabilities
- </br>
- REST APIs
- </br>
- Event-Driven Architecture
- </br>
- Grafana
- </br>
- GitLab
- </br>
- Jira
- </br>
</br>
About You
</br>
You're a competent, self-motivated engineer, able to demonstrate your skills and provide examples of applications you've contributed to. Experience in a retail environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
</br>
You'll also:
</br>
- </br>
- Take pride in delivering well-thought-out solutions.
- </br>
- Build good working relationships across teams and contribute constructively to technical discussions.
- </br>
- Ask questions, challenge assumptions where appropriate, and stay curious about better ways of doing things.
- </br>
</br>
Essential Skills
</br>
- </br>
- Strong coding skills using TypeScript, JavaScript or a comparable modern language.
- </br>
- .NET development
- </br>

- </br>
- Understanding of system integration patterns, APIs and event-driven architectures.
- </br>
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and practical experience using AWS or Azure.
- </br>
- Using Git-based version control in a collaborative development environment.
- </br>
- Experience diagnosing and resolving issues within live production systems.
- </br>
- Experience working in an Agile delivery team.
- </br>
- Strong testing mindset, including unit testing, regression testing and providing clear evidence that solutions are working before work is considered complete.
